Astropolis Brest July 2025

Astropolis 2025: A Landmark 29th Edition Electrifies Brest with a Stellar Lineup and Raging Rain

Brest once again solidified its status as the beating heart of French electronic music as Astropolis, the nation’s oldest electronic festival, this year’s installment truly delivered on its promise of an avant-garde, hedonistic, and festive collective adventure, spreading its infectious energy across the city’s iconic venues. And what an adventure it was, backed by another exceptional lineup that brought both established legends and rising stars, all while the elements put attendees’ dedication to the test.

From the the Manoir de Keroual to the intimate confines of the Cabaret Vauban, Astropolis 2025 showcased its ability to transform diverse spaces into vibrant dancefloors. The festival’s commitment to accessibility was evident, with both ticketed and free daytime events, ensuring that the spirit of Astropolis was truly for everyone. The rain Saturday seemed to amplify the raw energy, creating a more intense and unforgettable experience for those who embraced it.

The programming, as always, was a masterclass in curation, boasting an impressive lineup of over 80 artists across 9 different locations. The announced roster confirmed Astropolis’s dedication to showcasing the breadth and depth of electronic music, leaving no genre untouched. With the only exception being hard (herd) techno.

Headlining the sonic assault were titans like Marcel Dettmann, who delivered a characteristically powerful and precise set, commanding the dancefloor with his signature brand of techno, seemingly invigorated by the elements. The legendary Manu Le Malin, in a highly anticipated b2b with Somniac One, unleashed a ferocious wave of hard-hitting sounds that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Their combined energy was a definite highlight, a testament to the raw power and enduring appeal of the harder styles, especially when delivered amidst the downpour.

Beyond these heavyweights, the festival offered an embarrassment of riches. Palms Trax’s joyous selections brought sun-drenched disco and house vibes, while KiNK’s live dynamism, in a thrilling b2b with IMOGEN, proved once again why he’s a master of improvisation. Daria Kolosova and DJ Gigola showcased their ability to keep the energy consistently high with a more commercial driving techno sound.

Live performances were a standout feature, with Adult DVD, Gwendoline, Hysteria Temple Foundation, Krista Bourgeois, Nova Materia, and WAASS all bringing unique and captivating sonic experiences to the stages. The diversity extended to  Elisa Do Brasil b2b Hyperlison igniting the crowd with their drum & bass expertise.

The lineup was further enriched by cutting-edge artists like Bianca Oblivion’s short attention span set mixing old school samples with new stuff, Interplanetary Criminal, and BASHKKA, was another standout brought fresh sounds and diverse influences to the very danceable mix. The DJ Producer reinforced the festival’s roots in the harder, more experimental realms.

The commitment to local and emerging talent was also clear, with artists such as Alexis Lumière, Amor Leone, Antilogic, Armando 360, Blanca Brusci, Brise Lame, Coco Parker, Digé M0m0, FCKG MOOD, Gaya (FR), Kamen, Katze, Klåra, Mehdee, Mensonges-Sur-Loire, Nawme, RiWiS, Skomaager, Sonic Crew, Speechmaker, Véronique Samsung, and Zebulon ensuring that the energy continued from dawn to dusk and back again across all the various stages and pop-up events.

Highlights included the legendary Saturday night at the Manoir de Keroual, which, as expected, was a transcendental experience, propelled by the relentless beats of Marcel Dettmann and the sheer force of Manu Le Malin b2b Somniac One, all under a persistent, driving rain that turned the grounds into a mud-soaked, ecstatic dancefloor. This wasn’t just a party; it was a baptism by beats and rain, making it a truly hardcore rave experience. The illuminated grounds, the exhilarating rides, and the sheer collective joy of thousands dancing under the stars created a truly magical atmosphere. Beyond the main stages, the festival’s unique locations like the Belvédère Cesária Évora offered breathtaking views and distinct vibes, adding layers to the overall experience. The daily “Astrovélo” rides and the transformation of spots like the Jardin Kennedy into open-air dancefloors were further testaments to Astropolis’s innovative spirit, especially impressive given the weather challenges.

Logistically, the festival was impressively organized. The seamless shuttle service from Place Fautras to the Manoir de Keroual, complete with security personnel, ensured safe and efficient transport. The integration with Brest’s public transport (Bibus) further facilitated movement around the city, making it easy for festival-goers to navigate between venues.

Manu Le Malin set as the Driver at the Cabaret Vauban for the Sunday night after party was once again one of the many highlights of fantastic festival. the Cabaret Vauban at the Hotel Vauban is a wonderful venue with a really David Lynch ambiance. Manu Le Malin was totally committed to innovative but classic  techno.

Astropolis 2025 was more than just a series of dj sets; it was a testament to the enduring power of electronic music and the vibrant community it fosters. With a lineup that flawlessly blended legendary status with contemporary innovation, and despite (or perhaps because of) the relentless rain, the festival once again demonstrated why it remains a cornerstone of the European electronic music scene, delivering an experience that was both exhilarating and deeply communal. The 29th edition leaves us eagerly anticipating what the 30th anniversary will bring.
