5 0f 5 PEACE OF MINDs

Astropolis, the renowned electronic music festival, has become a haven for music enthusiasts and artists alike. Held annually in the city of Brest, France and Saturday at the Manoir de Keroual.

Astropolis has become a global powerhouse in electronic music festivals. They’re known for constantly innovating, embracing all kinds of rave music, and creating a strong sense of community. As Astropolis keeps growing and changing, it endures as a must-visit destination for music fans and artists searching for an incredible and unforgettable experience.

Friday at Astroclub / La suite Setaoc Mass was an incredible start, we can’t wait to see him again really hypnotic techno, just fantastic.

Saturday Manu le Malin, a key actor of the French hardcore techno scene and of the Astropolis festival since its beginnings in the early 1990s, always invites the most uncompromising and challenging selection of hardcore and drum and bass DJs on the Mekanik stage of the Manor. He himself and et KTRM played the most powerful and spellbinding hardcore techno for the utter merriment of a very large crowd of enthusiastic ravers of all ages.

Earlier on in the night, he had invited a remarkable and incredibly talented MC Big Red of Raggasonic, who references reggae/hip-hop in France teamed up with DJ Background to provide a magnificent show.

Meanwhile, on the Astrofloor the biggest stage of the festival, DJ Seinfeld overwhelmed us with a wide range of psychedelic old school samples. Before him was a strange and shrieking live show with Marie Davidson blurting shrilly into the microphone, in the (pure?) tradition of Miss Kittin. Definitely ballsy, if not 100% pleasant to the ears.

Next door, activity was at its highest at the bumper cars and it’s always great fun to watch the chaos of party goers trying to grab a car. The night must be exhausting but well worth it for the managers who come back one year after another. For the many less adventurous, a little “ferris wheel” is a fun option if not feeling exceedingly boozy 😆. There are also plenty of welcoming spots under the trees or under the stars, and some bonfires to chill out and enjoy the magnificent night.

In the outdoor setting or La Cour, avant garde talented DJs like Simo Cell and Blawan played profoundly deep meditative and somewhat hypnotic and full on special effects techno, highlighting the creative and future sounds of the continuing evolution of the very artistic cutting edge scene.

DJ Fuckoff b2b Denham Audio played later on to entertain the ravers with a soulful techno set and some vocals.

It must be said that we also felt conforted by the antifascist political messages stated by some performers and displayed at various booths on the site, on this very crucial weekend in a dark round of ominous elections in France where the threat of the extreme right is unprecedently strong. Lizzie set the tone with a remix of french punk band from the 1980s Beruriers Noirs “La jeunesse emmerde le Front National” got a young and less young exhilarated crowd singing along and sent a strong message of hope.

To escape from the dark political context and send a message of hope, Laurent Garnier at his very best closed the festival with a magic set, a wide array of all kinds of music that he only knows how to mix together so that you feel you have reached the highest state of consciousness / nirvana 😍. His eclecticism and total mastery of all styles does surprise some young people who came thinking Laurent Garnier is only about techno. But he is much more than that and he says that he Is a club DJ but we think he is at his best as a Rave Dj.Truthfully, his mixes are highly creative, exhilarating and mesmerizing in the purest raving tradition. You never know where “Lolo” is going to take you. All we know is: it is going to be wonderfully exciting.

We noticed that there was no Hardtechno or Hardstyle, I hate models sounding new techno trend and we didn’t mind.

For the happy few that still have some energy, the traditional after party orchestrated by Manu Le Malin in his “The Driver” alias (techno, compared to “Manu le Malin’s hardcore techno) Sunday, at the Hotel Vauban is a must.

The disco balls are dirty and don’t spin. The plants decorating each side of the stage are dusty and cheesy. But hey, this is Techno!

Tatiana Jane, clearly a young but promising DJ, didn’t have the easiest set. Keeping the dance floor active while waiting for Manu was a difficult task.

When Manu takes the stage at Hotel Vauban, he’s in his element. Fully concentrated, he delivers deep, soulful techno. Here, among genuine Astropolis lovers, we’re closing out another amazing weekend of raving in style.
