3 of 5 peace of minds
The DETROIT LOVE event at FVTVR / Wanderlust Paris on Saturday, April 26, 2025, was a highly anticipated night for electronic music enthusiasts. It drew a very-large and diverse crowd eager to experience a taste of Detroit’s rich musical heritage.

The headliner was the B2B set featuring Carl Craig and Moodymann. It promised a unique journey through their distinct styles. This journey was potentially unpredictable. Carl Craig is a pioneer of Detroit techno. He is known for his sophisticated and often atmospheric soundscapes. His music blends techno with elements of house, jazz, and classical music. His sets often feature intricate layering and a deep, hypnotic groove. In contrast, Moodymann (Kenny Dixon Jr.) is celebrated for his raw, soulful, and sample-heavy take on house and techno, infused with funk, soul, and disco influences. His sets are known for their unexpected twists and turns, incorporating classic samples and a loose, improvisational feel. A B2B between these two iconic figures was a masterclass in Detroit’s electronic music lineage.
Adding to the night’s sonic tapestry was a live performance by Octave One. This legendary duo, the Burden brothers, are renowned for their energetic and hardware-driven live shows. They use a significant amount of analog gear. This includes sequencers, synthesizers, and drum machines. These tools help them create a dynamic and evolving sound. Their sound stays true to their melodic yet powerful techno roots. Their live performances are known for their intensity and improvisational elements, making each show a unique experience.
DJ Stingray 313 brought his signature futuristic Electro sound to the event. DJ Stingray 313 is a veteran of the Detroit scene. He is an associate of the legendary Drexciya. He is known for his fast-paced, inventive beat patterns. His dark, often dystopian sonic aesthetic is also well-recognized. His sets are characterized by their high-speed mixing and a relentless energy that captivates audiences. But the Wanderlust sound system wasn’t good enough for the quality of music being played.
The venue, Fvtvr / Wanderlust Paris, located on Quai d’Austerlitz, is known for its contemporary design. It is also celebrated for its spacious open-air terrace overlooking the Seine. This setting contributed to the atmosphere of the event. The caliber of the artists performing attracted such a diverse audience. The “mixed crowd” reflects the broad appeal of Detroit’s electronic music. It attracts both seasoned techno and house aficionados. It also draws those who are newer to the scene and just going out for a Saturday night. Making it an unpleasantly overcrowded night with great music.

Sounds like a great night. Saw DJ Stingray 314 in Berlin twenty years ago. Great DJ.
