PARIS CALLING – MIA MAO OPENING: Laurent Garnier & guests

5 0f 5 PEACE OF MINDs

Friday, January 17, 2025, marked the highly anticipated grand opening of Mia Mao, the new club helmed by the management team behind Kilometre 25, the renowned summertime techno club situated nearby on the Canal de la Villette, Jardin 21 and nearby uncompromising Glazart club. Entry to Mia Mao is conveniently located through Jardin 21, the adjacent open-air garden known for its relaxed ambiance, drinks, and DJ sets.

The venue itself is truly impressive, boasting a spacious warehouse with soaring ceilings and a generously sized, inviting bar area on the mezzanine level. This provides ample space to unwind and recuperate between exhilarating dancefloor sessions. Mirroring the successful formula of Km25, Mia Mao offers 4 bars, numerous restrooms, a dedicated tattoo workshop, and most importantly, friendly staff, cloakroom attendants, security personnel, and bartenders.

A vast and inviting outdoor area complements the indoor space, offering views of the unique industrial landscape, ambient music, and a little bar. Overall, the venue is a resounding success, with both the interior and exterior architecture leaving a lasting impression. Finally, Paris has a dedicated warehouse venue capable of hosting authentic techno parties throughout the year, regardless of the season.

While Mia Mao features a single room and stage, the inaugural night was graced by the legendary Laurent Garnier. His presence generated immense excitement, although his set, while enjoyable, may not have been among his most exceptional. It exhibited a more “trancy” feel compared to his characteristically high-energy performances at large-scale festivals. Nevertheless, the venue was packed to capacity, yet still maintained a comfortable atmosphere. The crowd was undeniably enthusiastic and appreciative of the experience. The lighting design was intricate and subtle, while the sound system delivered a powerful and immersive audio experience. The closing set by Manu le Malin b2b Electric Rescue was simply outstanding, showcasing their signature blend of exciting, highly skilled, and deeply moving techno.

In conclusion, we were thoroughly thrilled with the Mia Mao grand opening and eagerly anticipate returning soon. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for creating such an enjoyable and memorable experience. In all three venues mentioned in this article (Mia Mao, Kilometre 25, Glazart, and Jardin 21), we consistently feel welcomed and at home in a friendly environment dedicated to enriching our lives rather than simply draining our wallets.

This is the last song that Laurent played
