Laurent Garnier for the 25th birthday of Fabric London, December 2024

On Sat 7th Dec, or rather Sun 8th, Laurent Garnier in great shape and at his uttermost best, delivered a much expected 5 hour amazing intricate house and techno set for the 25th birthday of Fabric, the mythical club from central London. 2 to 7am, in the absolutely packed room 2 of Fabric, the atmosphere was totally electric from beginning to end and the crowd gave it all with exceptional enthusiasm. Many of Lolo’s fans and supporters of all ages, from England,  France and further away, were obviously there for this unique Fabric’s 25th birthday. 

Most people obviously came for the set in room 2 while room 1 and 3 were full of energy too but only with people who lost patience and didn’t want to queue 20 to 30 minutes each time they tried to get into room 2! And indeed that was the big issue on this exceptional night. 3000 people rallied at the venue, most of them for Laurent Garnier’s set. After much queueing to get in, go through the ID checks and scans, body and bags searches, much additional queuing for the cloakroom too, loads of enthusiasts only managed to reach room 2 just in time for the beginning of Garnier’s set at 2am. Only to discover the room was already packed and the security guards would not let them in. Big disappointment. But everybody was patient and in the end, managed to reach the room after a while. And it was totally worth the wait. 

As previously mentioned, the set was incredible and the collective energy (collective effervescence) was relentless with shouting, chanting, clapping from senior, middle-aged and younger dancers all together in communion for sharing their love of music with Garnier who was obviously having a lot of fun too as the preacher. In room 2, some small alcoves on each side of the room make it a unique experience for those who climb the high steps, with the bass touching every single part of the body, nostrils to toes. 

Many thanks to the hardworking and friendly staff of Fabric who made this unforgettable event possible. It would have been perfect if a few less tickets had been sold, thus preventing the long queues and overcrowding … Despite the discomfort, it remained a night of magic, mirth and ecstasy. Profound happiness and spiritual voyage always work together with Laurent Garnier. This is why he is so unique. Lolo we love you. Thanks for making this night and so many others unforgettable.
